A day and half of shooting saturday 7am till almost 7pm...First location was Ballard High School where Grynch day dreamt about having an apartment above Ballard High School...Where "lolz" were plentyfull... "WOW" and Ahhhh what's that smell" were one of the funniest moments of that morning...then we shot down too downtown Ballard were Myself Doug Larry and Nphared were on crowd control duties...

Jern Eye - Cali f/ Spank Pops & J Billion (Produced by Jake One) VIDEO

The left coast comes correct in Jern Eye's new video for Bay Area anthem "Cali." The song features Jern, along with veteran emcee Spank Pops and star on the rise J. Billion, riding the waves of an infectious Jake One beat and trading verses bursting with hometown pride. Now, director Lorezno Escalante, also one of the visionaries behind Jern's "Beautiful" video, brings the neck-snapper to life. "We filmed 'Cali' entirely in San Francisco to give viewers a perspective of the city in California we represent," says Jern. And what a perspective it is. Viewers are treated to a visual tour of the city, as the camera captures performances at iconic locations such as AT&T Ball Park, Treasure Island and Haight Street, while the golden state's picturesque coastline fills out the rest of the video. Shooting was done guerilla style at times, which inevitably resulted in close encounters of the amusing kind, as Jern explained that filming at Treasure Island caused a stir amongst some of Bay Area's finest. "The local Gestapo were not too happy about it," says Jern with a smile. Be that as it may, there's nothing to be unhappy about with the final product, as Jern & Co. throw down an auditory and visual tribute to their hometown that everyone can be proud of.

Macklemore Receives Mention in Huffington Post Article
Learned (Jonathan Cunningham) that Seattle's Garfield High and some of its former students received a mention in an article on the Huffington Post which received a bit of a response that made me think.
Macklemore and Shankbone are artists mentioned, but the list seems a bit incomplete lacking in-depth research as to "rising hip-hop artists" who attended Garfield. The question then was posed on Twitter, who were other students of Garfield that contribute to Seattle hip-hop. Thoughts?

Grieves Signs with Rhymesayers Entertainment
Grieves signs with Rhymesayers and the 2008 album, 88 Keys & Counting, which he collaborated with Budo on will be re-issued in March. Click here for more info and tour dates.
After relocating to Fort Collins, CO and eventually Seattle at age 19, Grieves had broadened his array of musical influences to include punk rock and eventually became completely immersed in Hip Hop as an art form.
Following his debut album Irreversible in 2007, Grieves began collaborating with local Seattle-based producer Budo, a talented multi-instrumentalist that helped complete the organic-yet-intense sound of 15 melodic, sample-free tracks that became 88 Keys & Counting. Following rave reviews of the album’s mainly digital release, Grieves and Budo hit the road once again to set up shop in New York City, where they are currently at work on the follow-up to 88 Keys, due for a Fall release this year on Rhymesayers.
