Red Bull Celebrates 60th Anniversary of the 45

Click on the flyer to enlarge for details. It goes down tonight for free at Trinity located in Pioneer Square. Seattle's own Jake One and Supreme La Rock will be holdin it down for the town. DJ Nu-Mark of Jurassic 5 will be closing out the night.

Introduced in February of 1949, the 45 has had a long history, and has recently returned to some prominence in the DJ community. The upcoming event, Red Bull 45s, pays tribute to these 7 inch records by bringing together some of the top DJs who are in part responsible for its resurgence. The event features 4 DJs, all spinning 45s during the same set (including two Seattle locals - Jake One and Supreme La Rock). Each DJ must use "old school" beat-matching techniques to keep the flow of music continuous - there is no tempo-matching software allowed. Instead, DJs need to quickly dig through their stack of records to find something that will fit - just like in the old days. The event will culminate with a performance by Nu-Mark of Jurassic 5.
