In this clip, you'll notice Wale is in the studio and this is prior to creating the track, Cyphr, with State Property members, Beanie Sigel, Freeway, and Young Chris. Undrcrwn drops by to lace Wale up with some t's. I got the same red First Team All Hood t-shirt.
If you didn't know, now you know that it's a party and the DNC is jumpin. Election season is runnin ever so high and Undrcrwn is involved with their support of Barack Obama. In the video below, you can spot Spike Lee rockin the O-Face t-shirt as he's being interviewed by MSNBC. Even Nas is rockin the shirt. I believe the hip-hop contingency will be sportin this very soon! There'll be a general release in the very near future. However, if you gotta have it now, check out The 400's website and purchase it there. They'll be shipping out the shirts immediatley out of Denver. Otherwise, if you got a bit of patience, you can order it from the Undrcrwn site and they will be shipping the shirts out next week.

Once I spotted this on several other blogs, I thought, whoa, D. Black on a track with Skyzoo? I then find out it's another D-Black out east. Makes you wonder though, the D. Black from Sportn' Life perhaps would be able to rip over the Illmind beat just as well with his voice?

Antonio just sent over a video of Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt EPK that he just posted up. It's just under an hour long, but takes you into the in's and out's of the making of it and highlights the heads behind the classic album. h/t to 1 Time 4 Your Mind

The homie Antonio over at 1 Time 4 Your Mind just passed this along. He just posted up an interesting interview where his assistant asks him a few questions on behalf of a magazine that she said he was too busy for. I'm not sure what the video footage was shot for, but the way I look at it, Kane did a great job of creating his own "buzz" or keeping his name out there in creating that PR push and letting heads know who he was. Artists nowadays have no excuse in marketing themselves, especially with all the free means of communicating a message to the masses via the internet. Back to the Kane footage though, as Antonio said, "you have to watch the entire clip because the end is hilarious."
Mountain Dew has launched a "singles only" label called Green Label Sound today. You can download The Cool Kids' Delivery Man track for free by clicking here where you can check what else GLS has in store. Should be interesting to see how this develops. The Cool Kids chime in with their involvement with MD's online initiative.
"We entered into the Green Label Sound program because we saw it as an opportunity to put a song out to the whole world with the backing of something that everyone grew up on," said Chuck Inglish of The Cool Kids. "Mountain Dew is not trying to push their product through music like everyone else; they just wanna support music. ... And with us tying to set up our new record without a record company, Mountain Dew gives us an unexpected helping hand to get up those steps."
Mikey Rocks of The Cool Kids added this. "Green Label Sound is giving artists like ourselves an opportunity to get to a different scale than we were previously on. The program gives us a further reach than we would've had on our own, but we still get to keep the same creative independence that we like to have."

The homie over at DCtoBC just hit me off with the latest in The DMV Mixtape series that comes out monthly. Click here to download to your Zune. In the meantime, check the tracklisting and a few words from Modi below.
we’re not here to whine about how our region is overlooked when it comes to hip hop; we've already made progress. wale had arguably the best mixtape of the year, and sold out that show at S.O.B.’s in NYC last month. tabi bonney’s videos were all over cable, and one even earned an MTV awards nomination. we have definitely made an impression on the music industry, and are on the way to a movement.
people are hungry to see what else the region has to offer, so we went extra hard in creating the best possible august edition of the DMV mixtape. in addition to the names you already know, we wanted to introduce a few that you may not. we got exclusives, we got unreleased tracks, we have some major label talent, and we have people who grinded out their tracks in their basements on makeshift studio equipment. and we can honestly say it all cranks. so take a second and check it out.tracklisting:1. wale – breakdown! Just received news of Zoo York's Cockroach Artist Series involving 5 New York artists who had the opportunity to take their vision of the cockroach and emblazon that artwork onto a skateboard. Each skate deck goes along with a pro rider from the Zoo York team. You can click on the image above to check out the finer details of the designs. Below is more information on the artists from the press release.
A Queens native who now lives and works in Manhattan, Greg Lamarche (SP.ONE) is widely recognized as one of the key players in NYC’s revolutionary ‘80s-era graffiti movement. Known for his flawless letter constructions and vibrant mixed-media collage work, in 1992 Greg founded the highly-influential graffiti ‘zine, Skills. Over the past decade, Greg’s work has been prominently featured in numerous print publications and art galleries spanning the globe. A regular Zoo York contributor, he has lent his sublime artistic abilities to commercial projects for Nike, Roxy, Carhartt, Helio, Swindle, Mass Appeal, and others. www.greglamarche.com
Steve Nishimoto (Nish) is a respected member of NYC’s downtown art scene whose intricate letter forms, collage imagery, and logo designs have touched a global audience of skateboarders, tastemakers, and art connoisseurs. Born and raised in Chicago, where the rugged urban landscape nurtured his interest in design, Nish moved to New York in the late ‘90s to pursue a career in art. Working closely with Associates in Science and the founders of Zoo York, Nish quickly made a name for himself in NYC and beyond. His work has been featured in magazines and art exhibits around the world, and he has been commissioned by a range of top brands including Uniqlo, Viacom, Burton, Nike, Converse, FTC, and 2K by Gingham. www.nish.net
Accomplished print and web designer Kyle Talbott (Mesk One) is the co-founder of Handselecta – a font foundry based in New York that develops new handstyles while preserving the wealth of urban calligraphy that has evolved over the past thirty years. Kyle’s involvement in graffiti culture dates back to 1985 when, after watching “Style Wars” on PBS one fateful night, he embarked on a personal exploration of graffiti that has steadily grown into a lifelong journey. Currently serving as an adjunct professor at Manhattan’s School of Visual Arts, Kyle also runs FELT Creative – a boutique web design firm in Brooklyn that boasts a healthy roster of underground and mainstream clients. www.handselecta.com | www.thinkfelt.com
A valued member of Zoo York’s in-house design squad, Brooklynite Stephen Halker is a Southern California native who relocated to NYC in 1997 to attend the School of Visual Arts (SVA). The son of acclaimed scientists, throughout his scholastic years Stephen often wrestled with his inborn scientific curiosity versus strong desire to express himself artistically. Upon graduation from college, Stephen combined his blood lust and creative desires by taking a job as a scientific illustrator. After drawing cadavers for three years, he fled the lab for a position at McGraw-Hill where he illustrated college-level biology textbooks. From there, in an attempt to broaden his horizons into more emotive forms of illustration, Stephen freelanced for record labels, lifestyle brands, and magazines, before landing his current gig at Zoo York last year. www.stephenhalker.com
Established in 2004 by designer Jules Kim, Bijules NYC is an internationally celebrated collection of jewelry and accessories that speaks to worldly trend-setters who embrace a deep sense of individual style and attitude. Located in Chinatown, Jules places strong emphasis on the importance of self-expression, and her provocative designs reflect American propaganda surrounding the empowerment of women, the innocence of youth, and the dark humor of adulthood. Regularly featured in leading print and broadcast media outlets, Bijules pieces are worn by some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry including MF Doom, Santogold, Spank Rock, MIA, Eve, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, and many others. www.bijulesnyc.com

DJ B-Mello has been in the game for a minute and as of late, people have been listening to more of that quality hip-hop opposed to what's on the airwaves now. A throwback mixtape from the early 90s has just surfaced on the internets. It was digitized by someone and then posted on a blog from Spain. If you happen to have one of B-Mello's older tapes, hit him up, 'cause I'm sure he'd love to make a copy for his personal collection. Spotted this on 206Proof and this is what the Westcoast #1 Tapemaster had to say.
This one is from back in the days when I claimed the Westcoast #1 Tapemaster. I was really goin hard in the paint. I haven't been able to transfer any of the real old joints & don't have all of the old mixtapes. This showed up on a blog from SPAIN & I figured people might wanna check it out. Tons of shout outs & you might recognize some of the folks.
