Chukundi "Kun Luv" Salisbury as Keynote Speaker for Cleveland High MLK Celebration

Chukundi "DJ KUN LUV" Salisbury to be Keynote Speaker for Cleveland High School's Martin Luther King Celebration.

Annual event takes on more meaning with recent death of former student and increased tensions.

Seattle, WA, January 14th, 2008: Popular Local DJ and Multi-Media publisher, Chukundi "DJ KUN LUV" Salisbury, has agreed to deliver the address for the Cleveland High School Martin Luther King Celebration Assembly on Friday, January 18th, 2008. The Assembly which will be held in the schools renovated auditorium will begin at 9:20 AM.

Salisbury, known to many youth in the community through his popular website and/or through his work as a mobile and nightclub Disc Jockey, will be speaking to the student body regarding alternatives to a violent lifestyle. "As a successful "Urban" entrepreneur, Salisbury is perfect to reach out to our young people!" said Wayne Floyd, Cleveland High School Principal. "His self-made "legal-hustle" is exactly what many of our young people aspire to and more importantly have respect for."

After carrying records for a DJ friend in college, Salisbury caught the DJ bug and became DJ KUN LUV
(http://www. ). After spinning his way thru college in North Carolina, he returned to Seattle. Over the years he has become an icon in the northwest music scene and won DJ of the Year. Strictly a club and mixtape DJ, Salisbury has amassed thousands of fans. He has Provided music at shows for likes of Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey, Ludacris, New York Knick Star Jamal Crawford, Ja Rule, The National Brotherhood of Skiers, former Seattle Sonics Rashaard Lewis and Nate McMillan. Salisbury's birthday party, THE VIRGO PARTY, has evolved to the premiere event in Seattle and has been held at prestigious venues such as Qwest Field and McCaw Hall. DJ Icons such as Tony Touch and the World famous Kid Capri have performed at the event. Although based in Seattle, he travels across the country to DJ at events and has been as far as Sydney, Australia to perform at the Fox Studios and Shanghai, China.

His appearance at Cleveland is part of the ongoing partnership between Seaspot Media Group and the Family Empowerment Institute (FEI). FEI has been working on the Cleveland HS campus for some time engaged in outreach and violence prevention as part of the Silent War Project (http://www.silentwa

Seattle community activist Rev. Harriett Walden founded the Silent War Campaign. Rev. Walden, an ordained minister and National Director of FEI founded the organization after a string of murders in greater Seattle that were met with 'silence' from the community in 1999.

"It is not normal to kill people and somewhere in our North American development we have experienced violence as a normal act," said Rev. Walden. "A lot of people who have experienced violence have not been counseled and everyone knows someone who has experienced violence. Our goal with Seaspot is to establish an intergenerational community relationship. Seaspot has access to the youth and the youth pay attention to Seaspot - we need each other to highlight and address the violence in our communities. "

Salisbury lives in Rainer Valley with his wife and two children. After graduating from Garfield High School, Salisbury attended the same HBCU as his father; Elizabeth City State University where he earned a BS in Computer Science.
